| Affirmative action is the acknowledgement of racism in the US now and in the past. The idea that everyone has a fair shot in America from the get go is just not true, barriers like race, gender, and socio-economic standing create a tilted playing field that favors certian demographics over another. The most obvious division historically in this country is that of race, specifically African Americans. Some American's who choose to ignore the fact of descrimination in both public institutions and private organizations could see the initiative as implying inferiority however those who know the history of the country see how it as a measure to combat ongoing descrimination. |

Given all that you said is true ... when does it stop? Given that blacks are entering the middle class and even the ranks of millionaires at what point do you say poor white americans have had the same educational and socio-economic liabilities as poor blacks? Those who would say that a poor white man is always better off then a poor black man does not know what they are talking about.
I do agree that there is discrimination in America today and that it predominately leans against non-whites, but are people saying that it will never be corrected? That seems rather illogical. |

Could an argument be made for when the black median income equals the white median income? |

That is, at least, a measurable figure. |
