Did anyone think of how they might prepare for the economy collapsing?

I think I may start storing canned goods.

Read a little on post WWI Germany and their economy collapsing.

Quote:
By 1917, the Russian economy finally neared collapse under the strain of the war effort. While the equipment of the Russian armies actually improved due to the expansion of the war industry, the food shortages in the major urban centers brought about a revolution. The large war casualties also created disaffection and mutinous attitudes in the army. Two revolutions that year would cause first Tsar Nicholas to abdicate, and a few months later for the Communist Bolsheviks to seize power under their leader Vladimir Lenin. Lenin would quickly push for withdrawal from the War.

The dollar is falling and nobody knows when it will stop, would converting your dollars to Euros be a good idea?

Quote:
Euronews.net notes that the latest exchange-rate development "is great news for European tourists visiting America but [it] makes life tough for European companies exporting goods to the [U.S.]." The news service recalls that, back in 2002, "one dollar bought one euro, but since then the euro has gained 50 percent in value."

Quote:
The Financial Times reports: "The clearest trigger [for the weak-dollar development] may be the rally in crude oil, which touched $102 a barrel on Wednesday. Recently, rises in the oil price have correlated with gains in the euro against the dollar....A higher oil price does greater damage to the U.S. than other big economies because of the [United States'] well-known oil addiction. It also shows that inflation pressures, whatever the Fed says, have not gone away."

This is a scary thing my friends so store up on your canned goods just in case the worst does occur.

Buy stock in gold. It is usually inversely related to the strength of the dollar in times like these. I bought it a while ago and it has been doing great (and if all you buy it now, I'll do even better!! Smile )

The euro is a tad risky IMO. I'm tempted to buy the Yen because China's economy is skyrocketing but the constant political turmoil over there worries me.

The economy is going to get rough, but it isn't going to collapse.
