Looking at it from a chef's standpoint, I would like to officially go on the record as having had said YUCK!
Our meat inspection standards are lax enough, as it is....
Although, a clone for myself is a very tempting idea. |

It would probably drive up the cost of beef. They would more be able to control the supply end and always keep it just below the demand end. It would be controlled and manipulated like they do with oil.
Plus, would you rather have your beef come from a farmer or from Monsanto? It has already been shown that they would like to control the food and water supply. Call me old-fashioned, but I would prefer the farm over the lab any day. |

That's how all of economics works.

You seem to have an irrational fear of the use of technology. |

Cloned anything, man! Didn't you see "The Clone Wars"?
I have the utmost reliance upon and respect for science. Except for one field. Genetic manipulation of food sources.
Ask yourself this: If you were at the grocery store and you were standing in front of the meat cooler looking at 2 steaks, 1 that came from a cloned cow and 1 that was not. If they both cost the same, which one would you pick? And why? |

That's not how cloning works in real life.

Why?

I'd go for the cloned meat.
You know why? Because of the purpose of cloning cows.
As things are, some cows taste better than others. Genetic variation and all that.
The idea is that, after tasting steaks, we can choose the tastiest cows and make more of them. Thus, more better-tasting steak.
So, that's why i'd choose cloned meat. Tastier. |

| I guess it is because by accepting cloned food, you take your food source out of the hands of nature and put it directly into the hands of the corporations. Corporations that do not always look out for our best interests. I would become a farmer before I accepted it. Look what happened to young Anakin Skywalker. He ate cloned beef. |

Yep, that way when you tell someone to go F*** themselves, they can actually do it! Like a worm.
Although, like with most relationships, you would end up just hating the other end of yourself..... |
You really haven't had a very successful love life have you? |

I can't complain....Hey, if people can tell dead baby jokes, can't I be allowed a little "worm humor"? |

Uhm. Our food sources haven't been in the hands of 'nature' for thousands of years. Agriculture and selective breeding are definitely not 'nature'.
Moreover, your beef is already produced by corporations.
What, did you think that cows were raised by good old-fashioned pastoral farmers? They aren't.

It doesn't change anything at all. It just means that your steaks are genetically identical instead of diverse. |

You forget, I am a chef. I buy my meat through my purveyors at work and just give the owner the cash. We buy our meat, produce and dairy from small, independent farmers just outside of St. Louis. Not even any growth hormones in the products we by, most of the produce is organic. |

Only if the worms are eating dead babies. |
