Extraordinary rendition and irregular rendition are terms used to describe the extrajudicial transfer of a person from one state to another, and "Torture by proxy "is used by some critics to describe extraordinary rendition by the United States, with regard to the alleged transfer of suspected terrorists to countries known to employ harsh interrogation techniques that may rise to the level of torture. Critics have alleged the use of torture has occurred with the knowledge or acquiescence of the United States. However United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice stated in an April 2006 radio interview that the United States does not transfer people to places where they know they will be tortured

| You can't pick and choose where your taxes go, the better poll question would be "should the U.S. take part in extraordinary rendition". |

no. if we decided not to do it does it make it better for us to send them somewhere so they can do it.
that's like a mother against spanking but sends the child to the grandmother's house to get spanked. |

What is most interesting is that Cheney and Co. were bitching about Pelosi going to Syria for diplomatic reasons. Yet they can deal with Syria in the dead of night to send people there to be tortured. The hypocrisy!

You're an idiot. Of course the CIA tortures people. That's the problem - they shouldn't be doing it! |

mccain made sure that congress banned it and it became law. why would they pass a law that was being broke and that would be immediately be broke after it was made law? |

| Because they thought otherwise, and/or it's an empty gesture to get votes. |

Well, I think people should answer this carefully because buying things that are made in China and other places with bad human rights issues isn't terribly different.
I do realize there are differences in this case, and a lot more injustice comes from it, but still, enslaving people to work for you and only paying cents a day isn't the greatest thing in the world. |
