Many people don't know that during World War One, President Wilson passed the Sedition and Espionage Acts, which made it it ILLEGAL to speak out against the war effort in Europe, and subjected millions of German, Austrian, and Turkish Ameicans to unfair treatment, suspicion and surveillance. During World War Two, Millions of Japanese and Germans we're put in concentration camps in the SW deserts. This war (which is rapidly becoming World War Three) is just as important as any other War in our history. The point is that each time, the rights of Americans have been "taken away" (for lack of better words), but each time they were restored once the war was over. |
this war does not affect
A-N-Y-O-N-E in the United States. (Besides Soldiers)
this is not a real war.
its a war on oil so this
crap that he can search our mail is just that:
CRAP.
Its called CHECKS AND BALANCES, and DEMOCRACY. He has NO right to do this. He will forever go down as the worlds worst ruler of the US. | this war, and the so called war on terror may not seem to affect anyone in the u.s. but these wars and so called attacks on america are just giving our goverment more and more excues to do unconstituional things, that they say is for americas saftey |

| There's a reason no one in this country is being affected by the war. the anti-terrorism stuff is working. its not nice but it needs to be done. If osama and his al qaeda cronies had their way, americans would be under constant attack like the israelis are. |

we are under attack, and its not by terrorists but by our own goverment, and its only been one physical attack, everything sence then has been mental, putting fear in america, watching america so they know when to put fear and how much of it so america is behind this

The fact that it was done in the past shows that it works, not that its ok. |
Except it doesn't show that at all.
Many such abuses of power were actually entirely unnecessary. |

What makes you think it's working?
You'll note that we hadn't been attacked by islamic terrorists for some time BEFORE 9/11 also.

And what makes you think that it's even possible for them to have their way?
You might care to note the geographic position of the united states: north america. That is notably different from, say, the middle east. |

we were attacked before 9/11:
in 1993 the world trade center was truck bombed
my father was in one of the towers at the time.
2 of our embassys in africa were attacked in the late 90s
the uss cole was attacked
since 9/11 theyve attacked madrid, london, indonesia, casablanca, and istanbul
geography doesnt matter anymore, geography prevents invasions by real countries, but it doesnt prevent 10 guys from getting on commercial flights to america, thats what intellivence agencies are for |

There is a very important factor being neglected here.
The goals of the people we are up against is not to terrorize whenever they can within the united states.
The goal is to bankrupt a superpower.
Why should they attack again inside the US?
The objective is being accomplished outside of the country and it's being done willingly by the very people who are touting we need "victory" for "the war against terror".
The spending on the war itself is going to do us in if things don't change soon. |

And so, as you can see, they're still up to their usual outside the U.S.
And inside...is there a substantial variation in the likelihood of a terrorist attack from the recent historical norm?
No, there isn't. |

| Yes, I suppose the same people who brought us that report were the people who told us that there were WMD's in Iraq. |
