Ahh, I have to disagree with you. The consumer allows Advertising to influence them - or not. Advertising does not have the capacity to control people.
If you buy the latest diet program products that you saw on a late night television commercial, did you do that or did the advertising do that?

What monopoly are you refering to here? or do you consider ALL "big business" in cahoots and thus its one big monopoly?
