Hmmm...I honestly believe some on the far right actually believe they are doing what is best for the country. Some however, I believe are in it for the money or power.
For instance, the only reason I think George Bush is religious is to gain support from Evangelicals...
Ted Haggard said it best "If the evangelicals vote, they determine the election." |

it is not fair to generalize like that. fact: not all cons have something to hide.
i think people are cons because a) they are rich or b) they are brainwashed |

Leftist rugmuncher, how they can put liberal and socialist in the same boat I have no idea.
Go read some political theory. |

| I don't think that's a fair claim to make... it's certainly true of some people, but for most, they believe in a moral and societal system they were taught to believe in. |

I'd say the more right or left you are, the more you suffer from selected eight deadly sins. (Yes, there was originaly eight.)
Liberal sin:
Lust
Envy
Avarice
Cennodoxus
(The sin where you do good for the wrong reasons, either praise, glory, or some altirior motive. Later merged with pride.)
Conservative sin:
Wrath
Gluttoney
Greed
Pride |

Hmmmm there are conservatives that have things to hide for sure. But I do pose this question to you...When is the last time a liberal politician..ran as a liberal politician. Fact is both parties try to appeal as much as they can to the moderates of the country all the while still keeping their base happy. |

"Broadly speaking, liberalism emphasizes individual rights. It seeks a society characterized by freedom of thought for individuals, limitations on power (especially of government and religion), the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market economy that supports free private enterprise, and a transparent system of government in which the rights of all citizens are protected. In modern society, liberals favor a liberal democracy with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law and an equal opportunity to succeed."
Tell me what is wrong with the above???????? |

Winston, it depends on who is in power. That determines how easy it is to hide your wrongdoings. Dems were every bit as corrupt when they were in power. Well not quite so much, but corrupt, just the same. Although I think that NAFTA is still a crime in progress.
I do agree with that, Neo. But, when you get down to the heart of the matter, we only have one political party in this country. Dems are Rep. and Rep. are Dems. The only bosses that they are accountable to are their corporate overlords that finance their campaigns and give them money later for "Pet Projects". Or, just good old-fashioned pork. The only great divide in this country is with the citizenry.
I do not believe this divide is unintentional, because if you are arguing and questioning each others patriotism, then neither one of us has our eye on the ball. Case in point: All of their moonlight Congressional sessions or the fact that very few members even read the Patriot Act, before voting it through. |

What is wrong with it? It's not true..at all. It's an easy claim to make, though. Even those that you hate on the right make claims similar every day. |

I agree that both parties are similar, anymore. Really I just think they are fight off an idea from either side even if it happens to be a good idea because they are afraid of who will get the credit. My whole point ever since I've been on this site is it's pointless to make allegations and criminalize candidates from either side. We get away from the real issues at hand. We can go ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL day long going after each candidate from any party and their questionable actions and/or decisions involving their personal life or ethics. Frankly, I'm tired of conspiracy and allegations. It causes fights between us Americans and pointless ones at that...There is so much slander about every single candidate that I wonder how anyone votes without a guilty conscience. It just comes down to we believe what we want to believe wether its provable or not. That's just my opinion. |

| Although, I think that a lot of people think the way they do because they are told to think a certain way by the media, and don't deviate from that because they think that free-thinking is dangerous. |
