| All this talk about Iran supplying weapons to Shiites is really overshadowing the fact that the Shia community has divided into Iraqi nationalist group(Sadr) and an Iranian sympathizers. Not only that but it also overshadows that the Sunni Muslims are being armed and trained by there fellow Sunni's from Saudi Arabia. But we can't talk ill about the Saudi's because we get gas from them.(Even though Sunni's are reportedly killing more American's troops than the Shia are) |

i have a myspace friend living in iraq, and she has told me numerous times that what is going on there is intentional sunni genocide being carried out by the iraqi puppet government and now by u.s. forces with the change in strategy.
had the u.s. given a shit about the people of iraq, there would be no threat of iranian influence taking over iraq. no u.s. media outlet is going to tell anyone that there are shiites in iraq that are pro-iraqi. this would underscore the propaganda telling us how big and bad and evil iran is, and how we are going to loose iraq because of iran.
the reason why we are not going after saudi arabia (as most of us know) is because we already have trade relationships with them that favor corporations and fuck over the people of saudi arabia and america. |

| Am I the only one who thinks that because of our massive military blunder it seems like the entire middle east is out to get us? Iraq has just to many different factions fighting each other with the common idea that were bad guys, Afghanistan is now overrun with drug lords because we arrested the tribal leaders that were supposed to help us there, Pakistan is now an Al Queada base camp, Iran while the people of Iran dislike Mahmoud there pissed at us more for getting in our business, and finally Saudi Arabia is just screwing us over militarily and financially. |

no you are not the only one to see it. speaking of...the kurds have been awful quite this far.
of course the whole middle east is rallied against us. it is part about the mess that makes any sense. our country is being handed over to to corrupt corporations who are destroying it for temporary profit. we are fucked. our country is finished. there is little hope at this point. when bush leaves office we will have been involved in bullshit wars, being paid for on credit. that are bankrupting our country for 7 years. we are fucked. we are fucked. we are fucked. |

Well, you're not the only one who thinks the entire middle east is out to get us. The reasons vary depending on who you ask.
The truth of the matter is, they aren't all out to get us. Some organizations that hate the USA come from there, but mostly it's just a cesspool of barbarians and oil. |

i am not okay with anyone having nuclear weapons, but until there is worldwide disarmament (or at the very least until israel gives up its nukes), i support iran's right to defend herself.
of course they are seeking nukes but so what? |

Yo if you haven't learned anything from Kin Jong Il and Iraq it's that Nukes are bargaining chips and the ultimate defence in the global society. Countries will not mess with a nuclear country do the damage a WMD can cause and in N. Korea's case they can be traded for money and supplies. One thing rogue states learned when we invaded Iraq was to have WMD's or you'll get attacked. We don't really need to worry so much and Bush need to lay of Mahmoud because he is the only person we have to worry about our picking on him is giving him a stronger base in Iran. If we leave him alone the people displeaser with him will get him voted out(they showed how they didn't like him in their lower election earlier). |

here lies a fundamental difference between conservatives and liberals. cons are able to discern good and evil in the world. some nation states are bent on evil. some are bent on doing good. I think Iran safely falls in the former category and the US in the latter. to deny this is suicide.
If you were alive in 1938-9 I guess you would have said that Hitler has as much right to rearm as anyone else. until the Rhineland fell, then Austria, then Czech, then Poland, then France..........you get it?

Did you ask the same question before the iraq war?
Normally, history is remote, and people are hesitant to learn from it. But here, we have a remarkably clear and recent precedent.
The bush administration does not have any real evidence that Iran is attempting to make nuclear weapons. None. No one does.
And, in case the implication wasn't clear, mere suspicion is not an adequate reason for militarily assaulting a sovereign nation. |
